    Well that sucks! Great cane's and all but the price! I want a hybrid: one that supports my weight, is good for defense, but a reasonable price. Good info with the training. I would take the course if i could afford the cane

    • @AmericanCaneSelfDefense
      @AmericanCaneSelfDefense 6 днів тому

      Thank you for commenting Ryan! No need to wait to afford any particular cane to get trained, as the cane doesn't make the Caner, it's actually the other way around, TRAINING is the real equalizer. As an example the Cuban Cane art of Sobrevivencia was battle tested on the island with what would be considered today as "mediocre or subpar" Canes. No access to hardwoods, air craft grade aluminum or expensive machinery for elaborate designs. Yet, one can't argue with the arts' track record for effectiveness in the trenches. At any rate, feel free to schedule your Cane Clarity Call by texting CCC to 305-745-7839 or simply call 800-289-8188 to have ALL your questions answered. You'll wak out infinitely more informed. I have a 5th degree black in Kenpo, 4th in Hapkido, 4th in TenShin Aikido, black sash in Wing chun, and masters in Jeet Kune Do----and from what I can see watching these vids- this and the combo of Sobrevivincia principles-- is WAY more effective... and easier to MAKE WORK..... The only thing I'm waiting on is INCOME-- and I'm working on it. I've loved canes since Bat Masterson/and Barnabas Collins in the original Dark Shadows....and Sherlock Holmes in the Brett series....felt stupid carrying one- especially when I was younger- but now- after being mashed between two trucks in 99-- I NEED it... sometimes.

    I'm not currently practicing for self-defense, but still I do so many things with my cane, including, stretching and exercises, walking, just sitting in a chair or on the couch, laid back, watching TV in a standing position, dancing to videos, praying, etc, whatever it is. It is. I have the cane moving, and as I go I work on things that I want to be able to do with Grace. So, when and if I feel like I will go to self defense, I will be very comfortable with how the cane moves and where it is in relationship to my body. I'm still new at it, but I can do a handful of cool things. When my hands are strong enough, maybe I'll move again back too to a heavier harder cane, from the bamboo. Enjoying your videos and the information, as a little bit I can incorporate into what I do, or at least I am getting the ideas in my consciousness. Thank you.

    Caners especially may want to consistently practice those counters. An assailant is going to see a cane and think mobility issues. Aha!...the legs are a weak area! Which in itself can be a gift. Cause we *love* (at least I do) when bad guys make assumptions and stupidly rush in. Spring that trap. 🙂

    I have NEVER been asked why I have a cane. Maybe my santa beard sums up the image in their mind of "old guy walking stick, nothing to see here". But i gotta add, whenever I have seen a 20 something with a cane I just assumed he had an injury or walking disability because, as everyone knows, people generally don't carry canes unless they have to for medical / mobility reasons. So, see person with cane and assume medical / mobility.

    I started with the Robaina Octagonal Heavy Trainer cane {22 oz} and then switched to the Crimson Spinner XL {13 oz}. It took awhile for me to transition to the light cane because it was so fast and the strikes on the bag sounded just as powerful. Also easy to handle!

    Yup, I hit him with my cane and I end up on the ground and he wins! Why? I need my can to stand up with and without it I have one swing with it as I fall to the ground so it better be a good swing on the leg I am falling towards because I only get one chance. Cane defense really only works for people WITHOUT a disability or only a minor one. Regardless, great advice for people who really don't need a cane and live in a blue city where self-defense with a gun is illegal because democrats want honest people to be victims and criminals to be free to commit more crime.

      Thank you for commenting! Our 3 decades of training Caners worldwide with all types of disabilities (and theirs as well, otherwise we wouldn't be around as prominently as we are) is that Cane defense works for people who GET TRAINED. Your balance, coordination, speed , power, accuracy, kinethic sense, etc all improve with training in just 6 weeks when you know what you're doing and have the professional coaching. Regardless of your starting point, it's training that saves lives and remains the real equalizer.

    Technically, the most powerful strike (ability to generate force/kinetic energy) is what is called a Zornhau in HEMA German longsword schools. It is similar to a baseball bat swing but it comes down at 45 degrees or more while stepping (passing footwork/crossing step) into the strike with full body rotation.

    In my grade school years, I followed the Cliff Freeland system by Robert Lichello, practicing diligently after school before going out to play. I was able to handle myself in fights, but now realize the importance of self-defense tactics against potential threats. It is unfortunate that today's society requires more aggressive actions to deter troublemakers. it is crucial to be prepared and vigilant in protecting oneself. at this time i do not need a cane, but am getting one to rehearse my self defense moves until i can express them effortlessly.

    Many years ago I asked my doctor for a prescription for a cane. He asked why I needed it. I told him I had a trick knee from high school that sometimes acted up and when it did I just wanted the comfort of a cane if I had to go out. Knees are tricksy, you just never know. He said I could just buy a cane anywhere, and there was no need for a prescription. I told him yes, that is quite true, but if I do have a prescription than any cane I buy I can write off on my taxes as a necessary medical expense. And it's never wrong to want to save money on my taxes. He laughed and gave me a prescription. I've carried various versions of that script over the years just in case. Never ever had to use my cane for self defense, but if I ever do I have undeniable proof in my wallet that I indeed do need to carry a cane for a medical reason and not just so I can use it to beat on people. Unfortunately now, after several major surgeries that have left me partially paralyzed, I actually do need to use a cane for daily activities. 🤣🤣
